A culinary gem awaited at Maharaja Restaurant, where a plethora of vegetarian choices delighted my taste buds. The culinary surprise was a fitting prelude to the serene night spent on the terrace, soaking in the cold winds and the mesmerizing drizzle.

Good Friday Grace: A Spiritual Interlude

As Good Friday dawned, my footsteps led me to a Roman Catholic Church in Bergen’s residential embrace. The church, echoing with Tamil prayers, offered a special Good Friday mass. Post-service, the congregation extended a warm invitation, sharing delicious porridge and coffee—a heartening communion with fellow NRIs and a testament to the spirit of togetherness during holy celebrations.

Hushed Streets and Missed Malls: A Holy Week Experience

With Good Friday casting a hushed spell over the city, many shops remained closed, and a planned shopping spree at “Lagunen Storsenter,” one of Bergen’s largest malls, remained unfulfilled. Yet, the quiet streets and the occasional open attractions unveiled a different facet of Bergen’s allure during this sacred week.

Witnessing these iconic structures, previously confined to websites and paintings, was a surreal experience. Intriguingly, a casual visit to an outdoor café within Bryggen Wharf unveiled a hidden connection—an entrance seamlessly leading to a luxurious 5-star hotel.

   As the day transcended into the tranquil embrace of evening, I embarked on a culinary exploration. Amidst the closed facades, the Taj Mahal Tandoori Restaurant emerged as a haven, treating my taste buds to a flavorful journey. The rich notes of Paneer Butter Masala accompanied by warm Kulcha encapsulated the fusion of Indian spices in the heart of Bergen’s streets.
